pros= your tanner,

cons= you could get skin cancer.

If you do not tan outside, then you will not tan in a tanning bed. Plus, it is expensive to fake bake %26amp; you will just waste your money because you do not tan anyways. If you feel the NEED to go to a tanning salon, start at 10min in a low bed. Do use lotion. Because you do not tan well, I suggest you use a lotion with mild bronzers in it. You should go every 3 days - maybe 4 times total. If you do not see any results, then it isn't worth your time or $. If you are seeing results, try going for 15min the next time %26amp; 20min the next.

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. Most people go in the nude so they do not get any tan lines. I suggest you look for tanning promotions/coupons in the mail. Many places offer "1 week free tanning" or "7 tans for $7." This way, you can tan on a trail basis.

Another thing I suggest is to use Neutrogena self tanner. Self tanners are scary b/c you can turn orange, however, this stuff is awesome. It has a built-in tanner so you can see where you put it. I suggest you mix a pea size about with 1 pump of body lotion (any kind of body lotion.) Use this amount for each area of your body (arms, legs, chest, tummy, ect) This way, the color isn't as bright and it blends better.
Reply:If you go to a reputable tanning salon, they will help you with most of your questions.

Tanning salons are a great way to get ready for a vacation or just to tan for the summer, but they can also become very addictive and people have overdone it and gotten sick.

What to wear? You can go in the nude, you can wear a bikini, underwear, whatever you wish...thinking of tan lines and all.

Being fair skinned, I wouldn't tan for more than 4-5 min the first few times, you don't want to burn. But you gradually increase the tan time, the tanner you get. I typically cover my breasts during tanning with the towels they provide because they never see sunlight and are extremely sensitive to tanning. Also, because you are laying right above the bulbs on your backside, you might want to wear panties or bikini bottoms so your cheeks don't burn.

Cost of tanning varies, you can usually buy packages, ex. unlimited for 3 mos or 1 mos or 10 tans for $75, or something like that, call your local shop to see.

Tanning in the beds isn't any safer than tanning outside, they say it is, but dermatologists will tell you differently. It is just a controlled environment, same affects.

Fair skin isn't a bain, look at Nicole Kidman, she has beautiful skin and will all her life. Those who tan tend to look older before their time and have skin problems.

Self tanning lotions have gotten better and better, and are a great alternative to tanning beds or laying out. Also, for a special event, spray tanning is nice too.

Good Luck!

P.S. I am blonde, blue eyes, with skin that tends to burn before tanning. In the beds, which I only use before Spring Break trips because I am so darn white and don't want to burn on vacation, I typically start at 6 minutes for the first two or three times, then I only increase the times by a minute each subsequent visit. Jumping up by 5 or 10 minutes will typically lead to a burn.
