I'm English and Scottish but both my father and I tan easily without burning. How can this be?

Does anyone know of a family clan or bloodline that this could come from? As far back as our family tree goes, we can't find any other races or nationalities besides British. I'm just curious, as most of our family (and most other Brits I know) have pale skin and burn easily.

There's lots of Mediterranean blood in the UK bloodlines... eg, Pascoe is a Cornish name, but it's origins are Spanish. It's also known that some remnants of the Spanish Armada ended up in the Scottish Islands and were wrecked there. The sailors that survived eventually became part of the local communities and married local girls ... More Spanish blood in the Scottish/English gene pool!

bloodline was tainted during WWII by a US / Canadian Soldier who had darker features. Your real great granpa may actually be named Vito or Petrucelli.
Reply:There are bound to be traces of "Roman" in your lineage, considering the history of Scotland and England.

And, as Roman soldiers were enlisted from all parts of the Roman empire, including what we now call the Middle East and Eastern Europe, it's hard to say what might be hidden in your bloodlines.
