Dyeing to go blonde (Wasn't that a good pun?) hehe :)?

Okay so. My hair is naturally dark brown. I dye it frequently. I usually stay with darker colors because I think they%26#039;re more flattering for me. Right now my hair is jet black. I really want to go blonde, but the closest I%26#039;ve ever gone was a color so terrible that the only thing I can really compare it to is the color of cat pee. I have pale skin and freckles and green eyes. I really want to bleach my hair blonde and maybe add some black (highlights, tips, the underneath, etc... I haven%26#039;t really made up my mind yet) to it. I like to be unique with my hair so don%26#039;t think it%26#039;s freaky! Anyway, my question is..





How can I go blonde without it looking tacky? I love the platinum blonde look so how can I achieve this so it actually looks alright? Is it best to see a pro or can I do it myself? I%26#039;m planning on attending cosmetology school in September of 2008 so I%26#039;m confident in my abilities but don%26#039;t know if I trust an at-home bleach kit. Any advice!? Thank you!

I would definitely say to go to a salon to have it done. Spending a little bit more money there is so much more worth it than trying to do it by yourself. I%26#039;ve seen so many bad dye jobs on girls who wanted to be platinum blonde. Most at-home bleach kits don%26#039;t really do much, and if you leave it in too long it can do crazy stuff to your hair. Someone who is professional will do it perfectly. Good luck!

Reply:Do not bleach your hair at home no matter how good you are. But i think that a white blonde will look really good on you and if you put some black strips under your hair it will look good. Especially with green eyes.

Reply:Can you go blonde without looking tacky? Yes. Can you do it yourself? ...maybe. The fact that you dye your allready dark hair dark colors will make it much harder. My hair was blue black for years (also naturally dark brown) before I decided to go blonde. I ended up with blonde hair at the roots that slowly faded to orange and red. It was obviously bleached and fake looking. I loved it, but I don%26#039;t think thats what your going for. To get the entire thing one blonde color you will need to use the real type of bleach that comes in 4 strengths you get at a beauty supply store. So yes, it is possible to do, but only you can decide if your capable. If it%26#039;s a money issue, I say just get it done by a pro, or even go to the school youll be attending if they have an actual teaching salon, it will help you check out the school and get your hair done all in one trip.
Reply:Honey getting that black out of your hair is going to be a very, very long process. You really need to go to a salon. We can by products to help aid in this kind of color change that you can%26#039;t. I am not saying that you are bad at coloring your own hair, but with the products that you can buy I can almost guarantee that your hair is going to turn a lovely shade of orange and your more than likely going to have some damage. Then if you have to go to the salon after wards to get it corrected it is going to cost you a lot more money to get it fixed than it is if you just have a stylist do it. Trust me I charge 85.00 an hour for a color correction with a minimum of 2 hours and it can take way more than two hours. Please take my advice on this if you want beautiful blonde hair!!!!!!!!!!
